Italy on a budget
Italy can be an expensive place to travel, especially if you’re on a budget. Below are my top tips and tricks for travelling throughout the top spots in Italy.
- Try to get a lot of your meals from supermarkets. A lot of places in Italy are mainly tourists so they know they can bump their menu prices up. Try and get breakfast and lunch from the supermarkets (which are everywhere). Then for dinner you can find 5 euro pizzas at most restaurants or if you like something more splash out.
- Flix busses are a super cheap way to travel between cities. They have free wifi, usb chargers, curtains and reclining seats and can be as cheap as 4.99 Euro between cities.
- If you want to save on accomodation travel over night. If you have a long journey, travelling from for example 12pm – 7am on a train or bus can save you that nights accomodation. Hotels are happy for you to leave your bags at the hotel during the day if you have checked in for the following night. So get as much sleep on your bus/train then spend the day exploring.
- Book in advance. Booking your busses, flights, train, ferries and accomodation early can save you a lot of money. The closer you book to the date of travel the more expensive it can be.
